Summer Mood Boards

Summer Mood Boards

I know I am late in posting this since it is nearly fall, but I created these mood boards in late spring, with summer on the horizon. I am passionate about visioning, and really enjoy creating a guiding aesthetic and feeling for what I want to embody each season. For me, summer is a mix of aesthetics and so I like to create 2 vision boards, one for my studio practice and one for my life. I am drawn to the colors and lifestyle of the Mediterranean coast, with some of that classic Hamptons/East Coast style thrown in. And so there is a mix of soft pinks, butter yellow, and rich orange as the warm colors, with cool greens and blues thrown in. I personally love a mix of warm and cool colors together in a piece of art. And at the same time, I love the simplicity of a straw bag on a linen beach blanket...an oversized sweater, a romance book, and a pair of sunglasses. All of this blends somewhere in my life and my studio, the little details that romanticize my summers, from lemons and oranges, to a swim in the cool blue ocean. I think you'll see that in my Italian Summer and Gelato paintings, and more in summers to come.

I hope you found some inspiration and joy this summer season, with moments of gratitude and connection. In many ways, I found it harder to fully embrace the stillness and carefree qualities of the past couple of summers. I might be more of a fall this year. It seems like in some years, I resonate with certain seasons a lot more, and that's ok. A few years back, I had the most epic winter. I suppose the seasons mirror our lives in that way, and we take what we need from them as they change. Soon it will be time to create the next set of mood boards, and see what fall has to bring. This past week we had a summer storm, and it brought such a feeling of magic, relief, and hope at what's to come. And I can already tell you that burgundy, moodiness, and depth will be a part of it ;)
